Reverse Engineering an Automotive Part

Published on November 27, 2015.

Paul from GoMeasure3D demonstrates how to reverse engineer an automotive part. Reverse engineering is a process of creating a CAD model from scan data collected from a 3D scanner. Scan data contains all the measurement information that serves as a guide to model scanned mesh data into a CAD model, the conceptual design of a part ready for production. This demonstration uses the HDI 120 3D scanner and SpaceClaim software to show how this process works.
