ATOS Q is a 3D scanning solution that captures complex measurement and conducts inspection tasks. Powerful, versatile, and compact.
ATOS Q is a powerful industrial 3D scanner, ideal for a wide range of applications thanks to its flexible measuring area, made possible by interchangeable lenses. The system incorporates many advanced features found in ZEISS’ high-end automated systems, while its compact, lightweight design ensures easy portability—providing both convenience and performance.
The ATOS Q 3D scanner is available in two versions: 12M and 8M. Each sensor captures up to 2 × 12 million or 2 × 8 million coordinate points, depending on the model. Precision, resolution, and measuring area size can all be configured to suit your use case.
ATOS sensors are trusted optical 3D measurement systems used across industries, valued for their precision, durability, and powerful software. ATOS Q continues this legacy—elevating design, technology, and performance with industrial-grade ports, fiber optic cables, and robust connections to ensure high data throughput.
With the ATOS Q, precise fringe patterns are projected onto the object’s surface and captured by two cameras using the stereo camera principle. The projection technology uses narrow-band blue light, allowing ambient light interference to be filtered out during image acquisition for better data capture.
The ATOS Q 3D scanner was designed specifically for industrial use, delivering fully traceable measurement results even under harsh conditions. Its robust optical and electronic systems are dustproof and splashproof—making it ideally suited for moving projects seamlessly from the measuring room to production. Another key advantage is its compact size and simple operation.
ATOS Q works seamlessly with ZEISS INSPECT—the trusted standard in 3D metrology and a key part of the ZEISS Quality Suite. This all-in-one software solution supports everything from basic to advanced inspection tasks, covering the full process: 3D scanning, mesh editing, CAD import, trend analysis, digital assembly, and proprietary inspections. It’s designed to simplify your workflow to make your job easier and get you results you can trust.
Weighing only 4 kg and with a compact design, the ATOS Q is both lightweight and easy to transport. It can be set up on a tripod in the measuring room or quickly moved to the production floor for on-site scanning.
ATOS Q features the following advanced technologies.
ATOS Q features the Triple Scan Principle, a 3-in-1 sensor concept that captures three views in a single measurement. This advanced approach makes it easy to scan reflective surfaces and complex geometries, including objects with dents or irregularities.
The Blue Light Equalizer enables high-speed fringe projection and delivers fast, reliable measurements—even on challenging surfaces. It enhances the brightness of the light source while ensuring the projection unit receives consistent, speckle-free illumination.
The interchangeable lenses of the ATOS Q allow for precise measurements of small to medium-sized parts. Switching between different measuring volumes—from the smallest to the largest—is quick and easy, thanks to the fixed camera position.
What makes the ATOS Q special is its interchangeable lenses. Users can easily adjust the measuring volume to fit parts of various sizes—from small parts to large objects. Both models support five flexible measuring volumes (100, 170, 270, 350, and 500 mm), delivering high precision across a wide range of applications.
If you need a high resolution for a small, detailed object, switching measuring volumes is easy with the ATOS Q. Here’s a step by step video to show you how to prepare and change the lenses.
ATOS Q can scan large parts using the MV500 measuring volume. Even if the object is larger than the measuring volume, you can easily capture it by using reference points and stitching multiple scans to achieve a high-quality result with fine detail.

ATOS Q, available in 8M and 12M models, features five interchangeable measuring volumes, allowing flexible adaptation of the scan area to part dimensions for precise and repeatable quality control.
The ATOS Q optical 3D scanner rapidly captures full-field data of plastic parts with high accuracy and repeatability. It detects fine details for precise evaluations—like tool corrections (sink marks, warpage, shrinkage) and machine/process parameters—while supporting production control, reducing scrap, and enabling trend analysis across multiple parts.
Speeding up all phases in:
ATOS Q is well-suited for sand, pressure die, and investment casting, delivering reliable quality assurance throughout the process. During tool try-out, it captures full-surface scans of cast parts for comprehensive deviation analysis against CAD data—accelerating mold corrections. With ZEISS INSPECT software, tasks like deviation analysis, section inspection, feature alignment, and full GD&T evaluations are performed with ease.
