Overview

MikroCAD is the first surface metrology system to use structured light fringe projection profilometry to generate 3D surface scans with microscopic level of detail for small volume measurement (ie. fine scratches, grains of sandpaper, paper towel embossing). Compared to other methods to 3D microscopy, MikroCAD outperforms conventional technology such as confocal and white light interferometry (WLI) with its ability to produce high-resolution, full-field, non-contact 3D reconstruction of surface structures in seconds for a variety of materials.

Why use Fringe Projection Profilometry?

MikroCAD’s fringe projection structured light technology provides higher resolution, down to 0.1 of a micron (0.0001 mm) on a 2 mm x 2 mm scan target. Laser-based solutions cannot achieve this level of detail due to laser speckle effects that prevent scanning at the sub-micron level.
