Karbon Optical CMM

Portable measurement system

KARBON portable system is efficient at taking accurate measurements especially for reverse engineering and quality inspection applications.

Overview

KARBON delivers accurate measurements using a contact probe for reverse engineering and quality control applications. Simply set up the dual camera head system on the tripod and start taking measurements of physical parts with the stylus. The hardware is lightweight and portable (12 lbs) so you can take it anywhere for all your measurement needs—on the shop floor or on the production floor.

KARBON is valuable for industries including:

  • Aerospace
  • Automotive
  • Power and Utilities
  • Oil & Gas
  • Heavy Machinery
  • Government & Defense
Karbon Optical CMM

Features

Total Freedom

KARBON gives you total freedom of movement. The wireless stylus delivers better mobility than other portable CMM systems with an articulated arm which can restrict movement.

Large Working Volume

KARBON optical CMM has a large measurement volume of 735 mm (W) x 870 mm (H) x 860 mm (L), giving you the flexibility to digitize a range of parts in different sizes and shape.

Easy to Use

KARBON handheld 3D probe requires minimal training. It’s simple even for novices to produce reliable results quickly. Features guide users to produce accurate and repeatable measurements.

Digital Measurement Tool

Measure2CAD 3D Measurement Circle to Circle

Every KARBON system comes with a free, easy-to-use software called Measure2CAD that turns the optical CMM into a 3D caliper. Capture dimensions of objects to measure diameters, distances, and angles.

  • Intelligently apply offset values to compensate probe tip sizes
  • Save and export measurement history to use for future applications
  • Acquire single points or continuously scan point clouds
  • Export measurement results into Excel spreadsheets

Reverse Engineering As You Go

Take advantage of parametric modeling from a physical part directly into your CAD environment the moment you capture the data. The measurement is translated into SOLIDWORKS using the Point2CAD add-in instantaneously, making the reverse engineering process much more efficient.

KARBON provides a quick way to reverse engineer CAD models in SOLIDWORKS.

Computer-Aided Inspection

KARBON works directly with Compare2CAD add-in for SOLIDWORKS to tranform the optical CMM into the ultimate inspection solution. Compare2CAD communicates the probing information directly to SOLIDWORKS where you design your CAD models. This is useful for determining measurement deviations for first article inspection, understanding wear and tear, and production part inspection.

Inspection reports demonstrate which measurements pass or fail so you can get right to the heart of the issue.
