Using contact measurement devices (calipers and touch probes) to measure parts with complex organic shapes can be a challenge. 3D Geometry Acquisition

Step 1

The scanner directs a series of reference patterns onto an object. The light deflects onto the object’s surface. The scanner captures these images to calculate the object’s depth and surface information.

Step 2

FlexScan3D processes the images to acquire the data needed to create a 3D scans. Automated 3D capture drastically reduces the time and cost in capturing complex physical measurements. Rotate the object and take scans of all sides of the object.

Post-Processing Scan Data

Step 3

Clean up scan data and stitch individual scans into a full digital 3D model with FlexScan3D’s built-in post-processing capabilities. Once clean up is complete, export the data into standard file formats: PLY, OBJ, STL, ASC, FBX.

Step 4

Consider using Geomagic or SpaceClaim for advanced post-processing for specific industry applications. These software packages are helpful for 3D inspection and reverse engineering applications.
