A New Way to Catch Criminals?

3DD, Laser Scanning, Scientific Measurement No Comments

Forensic scientists are deploying a new way to collect evidence.  Using a 3D Digital laser scanner provided by GoMeasure3D investigators can now scan elements of the crime scene.  An example is to measure a door and door jamb after a break in.  Any tooling marks left behind can very accurately be measured and when a suspect break in tool is found it can be measured for comparison.  The details will give conclusive evidence if there is a match or not.

The laser scanner distributed by GoMeasure3D is very portable and easy to set up.  Working in a range of lighting conditions, such as ambient light, makes the scanner very versatile.

Measuring Tumor Volume

Geomagic, Laser Scanning, Scientific Measurement No Comments

To understand the growth of tumors, scientists are using 3d laser scanners to measure their volume.  With the Escan model laser scanner and turn table, the measurement process becomes a push button solution for this formerly tedious process of gathering data.  Once the data is acquired, Geomagic makes quick and accurate results perfom the volume calculation.

This scientific bundle makes if very easy to measure more specimens with much more accurate measurement results.

Simple Scanning Made Simpler with 3D Digital

3DD, Laser Scanning No Comments

We may already know how easy it is to use the 3d laser scanner by 3D Digital.  Now it is even easier.  By implementing the 2 axis rotary table you are about to automate the rotation of the part to create a true push button solution for 3D scanning.

Realscan software incorporates the controls of the 2 axis rotary table to allow you to reprogram the rotations.  Once completed, you simply put the part in the rotary table and press “scan.”  The result is a completed set of scans that are in the correct 3d space for easy merging and completion of the file.

This video shows you how to install and set up the rotary table:[hs_form id="3"]

Your Head in 3D

3DD, Laser Scanning, Scientific Measurement No Comments

Ever wondered what your head would look like in 3d space?  In the following video, we are using an Escan laser scanner with color camera option to scan a human head.  The Escan enables you to capture a large area at one time thus getting the data from ear to ear in two sweeps.

Chewing on 3D Data (Dental Mold Laser Scanning)

3D Digital, Laser Scanning No Comments

Positive or negative dental molds can be scanned with an Escan system.  3D Digital, a leader in 3d laser scanning, offers a very affordable solution for scanning both positive and negative dental molds.  Utilizing a 2 axis turntable enables the scanner to automatically collect the data on the mold which makes it very easy for the clinician to gather the scanned data.  You simply take the dental mold, place it on the turntable and press a button to start the scanning process.  Within minutes you have a complete scan of your dental mold ready to go to manufacturing.

To download a sample STL file of the downloaded data, simply complete the form below and you will be redirected to a download page where you can download the actual data:

Time Saver for SolidWorks Users

DezignWorks, MicroScribe, Reverse Engineering, SolidWorks No Comments

SolidWorks users are in for a real treat.  We all have spent hours designing parts from existing models using conventional tools such as height gauges, calipers, and a ruler to get the geometry to create the cad files we need.  GoMeasure3D now offers a convenient solution.  Using the famous MicroScribe portable coordinate measuring maching (PCMM for short) and DezignWorks software, the indusry leader for tactile reverse engineering software, to give you a very affordable, portable solution.

DezignWorks converts the MicroScribe into a physcial sketch tool allowing you to gather measurement directly from a physical part inside SolidWorks.  This cuts down dramatically on the time to create that cad model while still being able to discern the design intent.

Want to see this process in action? Check out these two videos showing the quick creation of a bottle and a machined part by completing the brief form (email address and name required only) and clicking the button.
